A new film hub for UQAM students and professors.
We took part in breathing new life into the former Marie Gérin-Lajoie Hall in UQAM’s Judith-Jasmin Pavilion by transforming it into the new facilities for the Bachelor’s program in Communication (Media Creation – Film).
The space was divided into a film studio with dressing rooms for actors, a 100-seat screening room, and a recording studio equipped with a control room and a Foley room.
The project’s main challenge was acoustics. Since the rooms had different functions and were located side by side, it was crucial to prevent sound from transferring between spaces.
Each room was structurally isolated from the existing building. Special care was given to every detail recommended by the acoustician, including structure, architecture, and electromechanical systems.
